    <title>TINA OS Update</title>

    <description><![CDATA[<div class="sect1"><div class="sectionbody"><div class="sect2"><h3>Shutdown Behavior</h3><div class="paragraph"><p>This update of TINA OS improves the configuration of <span class="tooltip" data-tooltip="instance in AWS-Compliant APIs">VMs</span>' shutdown behavior and the traceability of VM stops. The following changes have been applied:</p></div><div class="ulist"><ul><li><p>A new <code>ShutdownBehaviorConfiguration</code> parameter has been added to the OUTSCALE API methods <a href="https://docs.outscale.com/api.html#createvms" class="xref page">CreateVms</a>, <a href="https://docs.outscale.com/api.html#readvms" class="xref page">ReadVms</a>, and <a href="https://docs.outscale.com/api.html#updatevm" class="xref page">UpdateVm</a>. This parameter allows you to define the behavior of a VM, depending on the source of the shutdown, using two subparameters:</p><div class="openblock"><div class="content"><div class="ulist"><ul><li><p><code>HostAction</code> is used to define the behavior in case of an incident impacting the VM.</p></li><li><p><code>GuestAction</code> is used for shutdowns requested from the host system.</p></li></ul></div></div></div><div class="paragraph"><p>This parameter is an alternative to <code>VmInitiatedShutdownBehavior</code>, that is now deprecated and will be deleted in the future.</p></div><div class="paragraph"><p>For more information, see <a href="https://docs.outscale.com/en/userguide/Recommendations-for-Ensuring-Resilient-Environments-on-the-OUTSCALE-IaaS.html#_using_the_shutdownbehavior_attribute" class="xref page">Recommendations for Ensuring Resilient Environments on the OUTSCALE IaaS &gt; Using the ShutDownBehavior Attribute</a>.</p></div></li><li><p>A new OUTSCALE API method is available to get information about the stop history of VMs. This method allows you to identify why and when your VMs stopped, and to distinguish voluntary stops from infrastructure incidents. For more information, see <a href="https://docs.outscale.com/api.html#readvmsstophistory" class="xref page">ReadVmsStopHistory</a>.</p></li></ul></div></div><div class="sect2"><h3>Minor Improvements</h3><div class="ulist"><ul><li><p>The values returned by the OUTSCALE API’s <code>StateReason</code> parameter have been standardized. For more information, see <a href="https://docs.outscale.com/en/userguide/Creating-VMs.html#_vm_state_reference_statereason_2" class="xref page">Creating VMs &gt; VM State Reference</a>.</p></li><li><p>The <code>ak/sk</code> parameter of the OUTSCALE API <a href="https://docs.outscale.com/api.html#createsnapshotexporttask" class="xref page">CreateSnapshotExportTask</a> and the <code>OsuAkSk</code> parameter of the FCU API <a href="https://docs.outscale.com/fcu.html#createimageexporttask" class="xref page">CreateImageExportTask</a> methods are now ignored, and will be deprecated in a future release.</p></li><li><p>UEFI is now the default boot mode for VMs created from an OMI supporting both UEFI and Legacy BIOS boot modes.</p></li></ul></div></div></div></div>]]></description>

It is implemented as a dedicated physical chip embedded in devices, acting as a secure enclave enhancing the security of your VMs.</p></div><div class="paragraph"><p>TPM helps ensure that your operating system and firmware are authenticated and trusted. To provide this level of security on all your VMs, 3DS&nbsp;OUTSCALE provides a virtual TPM (vTPM) which is the emulation of a physical TPM.</p></div><div class="paragraph"><p>A vTPM is a virtual device stored as a file that can be associated with a VM. For more information, see <a href="Node-Pool-Manifest-Reference.html" class="xref page">Node Pool Manifest Reference</a>.</p></div></div><div class="sect2"><h3>Node Protection During Upgrades</h3><div class="paragraph"><p>To prevent accidental data loss, nodes with <code>hostPath</code> volumes or custom storage are now automatically excluded from upgrades. This ensures critical workloads remain unaffected during version updates.</p></div></div><div class="sect2"><h3>Multi-Subregion Control Planes</h3><div class="paragraph"><p>You can now deploy high availability control planes in multi-Subregion clusters. In case of a multi-Subregion deployment, each <span class="tooltip" data-tooltip="Availability Zone (AZ) in AWS-Compliant APIs">Subregion</span> must be defined using a separate <code>zone</code> option at cluster creation.     <title>TINA OS Update</title>

    <description><![CDATA[<div class="sect1"><div class="sectionbody"><div class="sect2"><h3>New UEFI Boot Mode</h3><div class="paragraph"><p>When <span class="tooltip" data-tooltip="instance in AWS-Compliant APIs">Virtual Machines (VMs)</span> boot, the firmware (first software ran) responsible for initializing the platform and providing system interfaces is historically called BIOS (also known as <code>legacy</code>). It has been now replaced by the UEFI system. From this TINA OS update, you can now create VMs from a UEFI boot system in place of the BIOS.</p></div><div class="paragraph"><p>This major evolution in our infrastructure features several advantages over the BIOS: boot time, stability, robustness, security. For more information, see <a href="https://docs.outscale.com/en/userguide/About-Boot-Modes.html" class="xref page">About Boot Modes</a>.</p></div><div class="paragraph"><p>This also allows us to provide the secure boot feature. For more information, see <a href="https://docs.outscale.com/en/userguide/https://docs.outscale.com/en/userguide/About-Secure-Boot.html" class="xref page">About Secure Boot</a>.</p></div></div><div class="sect2"><h3>New Secure Boot Feature</h3><div class="paragraph"><p>Secure boot is a security mechanism specified in Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI) to ensure that only approved boot software is executed. The feature protects against rootkit and bootkit malware, and helps to prevent attacks by ensuring that all components and configurations involved in the boot chain are trusted.</p></div><div class="paragraph"><p>The secure boot feature becomes a compliance requirement for some industries such as healthcare, defense, finance, and aerospace. Moreover, future versions of Windows will require secure boot to work.</p></div><div class="paragraph"><p>For more information, see <a href="About-Secure-Boot.html" class="xref page">About Secure Boot</a>.</p></div><div class="paragraph"><p>To enable secure boot, you need to create a virtual machine (VM) from an OUTSCALE machine image (OMI) compatible with UEFI.     <description><![CDATA[<div class="sect1"><div class="sectionbody"><div class="sect2"><h3>Unique Identifiers Added to Keypairs</h3><div class="paragraph"><p>To enhance consistency across our cloud resources and ease their management, keypairs now include a unique identifier (ID) available as a <code>KeypairId</code> attribute in the OUTSCALE API.</p></div><div class="paragraph"><p>The new <code>KeypairId</code> attribute is not a substitute of the current <code>KeypairName</code> attribute. The <code>KeypairName</code> attribute remains fully functional.</p></div><div class="paragraph"><p>Each keypair created receives its ID upon creation.<br>For existing keypairs, they will be assigned an ID without any impact on your usage.</p></div></div><div class="sect2"><h3>Tags Added to Keypairs</h3><div class="paragraph"><p>Keypairs now support the use of tags.</p></div><div class="paragraph"><p>Tags are labels that enable you to categorize your resources and identify them. For example, you can use tags to make inventories of your resources, as you can filter resources that share the same tag.     <description><![CDATA[<div class="sect1"><div class="sectionbody"><div class="sect2"><h3>Appliance in a <span class="tooltip" data-tooltip="Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) in AWS-Compliant APIs">Net</span></h3><div class="paragraph"><p>For security reasons, or because of the capacity of your software solutions, you might want to delegate the control of network traffic to an appliance.</p></div><div class="paragraph"><p>To do this, you can send all external network traffic to a <span class="tooltip" data-tooltip="instance in AWS-Compliant APIs">VM</span> running an appliance.</p></div><div class="paragraph"><p>You can follow this tutorial to set up an appliance: <a href="https://docs.outscale.com/en/userguide/Setting-Up-an-Appliance-in-a-Net.html" class="xref page">Setting Up an Appliance in a Net</a>.</p></div></div><div class="sect2"><h3>Matching Behavior Between CreateNetPeering (OUTSCALE API) and CreateVpcPeeringConnection (FCU API)</h3><div class="paragraph"><p>The <code>PeerOwnerId</code> parameter of the <a href="https://docs.outscale.com/fcu.html#createvpcpeeringconnection" class="xref page">CreateVpcPeeringConnection</a> FCU API method is now added to its corresponding OUTSCALE API <a href="https://docs.outscale.com/api.html#createnetpeering" class="xref page">CreateNetPeering</a> method under the name <code>AccepterOwnerId</code>.</p></div><div class="paragraph"><p>This integration is done in two steps:</p></div><div class="olist arabic"><ol class="arabic"><li><p>In this version, the <code>AccepterOwnerId</code> parameter is added as optional in the OUTSCALE API. It is included in this release to enable users and tools to integrate it as of now.</p></li><li><p>In a future version, this parameter will be mandatory in the case of sharing a <span class="tooltip" data-tooltip="VPC peering connection in AWS-Compliant APIs">Net peering</span> connection between two Nets belonging to two different users.</p></li></ol></div></div><div class="sect2"><h3>Consistency of the <code>IsSourceDestChecked</code> Parameter</h3><div class="paragraph"><p>In the OUTSCALE API, the value of the <code>IsSourceDestChecked</code> parameter in the primary <span class="tooltip" data-tooltip="flexible network interface (FNI) in AWS-Compliant APIs">Network Interface Card (NIC)</span>, with <code>0</code> as device index, is now consistent with the <code>IsSourceDestChecked</code> parameter of the VM.</p></div><div class="paragraph"><p>This improvement is also applied in the Flexible Compute Unit (FCU) API with the <code>sourceDestCheck</code> parameter of the <span class="tooltip" data-tooltip="network interface card (NIC) in OUTSCALE API">Flexible Network Interface (FNI)</span> that is consistent with the <code>sourceDestCheck</code> parameter of the <span class="tooltip" data-tooltip="virtual machine (VM) in OUTSCALE API">instance</span>.</p></div></div></div></div>]]></description>

This name is reserved to 3DS&nbsp;OUTSCALE’s usage.</p></li><li><p>The performance of the FCU API <a href="https://docs.outscale.com/fcu.html#describeinstances" class="xref page">DescribeInstances</a> method has been improved.
