About Carbon Footprint
The carbon footprint of your Cloud services represents an estimation of the greenhouse gas emissions generated by your usage, expressed by default in kilograms of CO₂ equivalent (kg CO₂e) on the OUTSCALE’s infrastructure. It provides a measurable way to assess the environmental impact of your Cloud infrastructure and take action accordingly.
For more information about the methodology used to estimate the carbon footprint, see the Methodological Approach.
General Information
Carbon footprint includes emissions generated throughout the lifecycle of Cloud operations, from infrastructure usage to hardware provisioning and maintenance.
By tracking your carbon footprint, you can:
-
Understand the environmental impact associated with your Cloud usage,
-
Monitor the evolution of your carbon footprint over time,
-
Integrate these insights into your own sustainability initiatives.
The OUTSCALE infrastructure is a shared computing infrastructure where its computing resources (processing power, memory, storage, networking, etc.) are shared among the different clients.
|
Data visualization and storage are available for a period of 3 years. After this period, it is your responsibility to export any required historical data using the API. |
Perimeter
Carbon footprint estimate is based on a defined scope that includes the reporting period, supported Regions, and available services.
The estimate takes into account the last 36 months starting from January 2024.
|
As the data required to consolidate a full year are available with a time lag, OUTSCALE uses a forecasting approach to estimate your carbon footprint of the current year. |
The table below presents the Regions and services for which the carbon footprint estimate is available:
| Supported Regions | Available services |
|---|---|
eu-west-2 |
VMs |
cloudgouv-eu-west-1 |
|
Other supported Regions and services will be added gradually. |
Limitation of Liability
The figures corresponding to the client’s CO₂ emissions related to Cloud services are provided as estimates.
