Logging In To Cockpit v2

You can log in to Cockpit v2, either as a root account or an Elastic Identity Management (EIM) user, using various methods with various degrees of security.

You can log in to Cockpit v2 using single-factor authentication. This means you can authenticate in only one step, using one of the two available methods: your login and password, or your access keys.

If you fail to authenticate four times in a row, further authentication attempts will be prevented for 1 minute. This locked time increases 1 minute every four consecutive failed attempts, for up to 10 minutes.

Additionally, you can increase the security of your account by using multi-factor authentication (MFA). This feature adds an extra step of authentication to the single-factor authentication by requesting either your enter a security key (either a physical USB key, or built-in your smartphone or computer), or a one-time password (OTP).

For more information on authentication, see About Authentication.
